Cochlear Implants

Cochlear Implants are electronic devices, also called "miracle ear." People who have profound hearing loss and are unable to benefit from even the most powerful hearing aids, or children who are born with hearing disabilities and do not develop speech despite intensive speech therapy and hearing aid use, have a good chance of hearing sound and performing well by undergoing surgery to implant a device into the inner ear or cochlea, known as the Cochlear Implant. Surgery is the first step towards hearing. This is followed by intensive speech therapy and AVT to help the child integrate into the hearing society as quickly as possible. The earlier a child is identified as a potential candidate for a cochlear implant and undergoes the procedure, the better the results.
